Letter from Tom Payne, 33° S.G.I.G., Orient of New Mexico

Greetings My Brethren:

Well, Fall is upon us and it is almost time for the Reunions in Las Cruces and in Santa Fe . I would ask that each of you become an active advocate for candidates in your lodges. There is a petition in the bulletin for your use, or you may go to the web-site and download one from there. There are exciting things going on in the Valleys of New Mexico and the more candidates that we have, the more that we can share.

Each candidate will be automatically enrolled in the exciting new MASTER CRAFTSMAN correspondence course from Supreme Council and will receive the course materials upon completion of the 32°. We have long been known as “The University of Freemasonry”, and we now have the opportunity to increase our knowledge through this correspondence course.

I would urge each of you to purchase the course from our secretary of your Valley and enjoy the pursuit of knowledge.

San Juan Lodge #25 had the grand opening of their new Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center on September 6 in Aztec and it was very well attended. The Grand Master and I were both able to attend and bring greetings as was Ill. Duane Walker, 33°, GC. This is an exciting time for our Language Centers as Belen and Edgewood will also be holding grand openings by the time you read this.

In case you missed it, the Lodge of Perfection of the Valley of Santa Fe held their monthly meeting at Mesa #68 in Albuquerque on August 25th. This meeting was well attended and the local DeMolay Chapter presented the New Mexico Scottish Rite Foundation with a check in the amount of $300 for the Language Centers. These young men are to be admired as they raised the money doing car washes. A heart felt “Thank You” to them and to the Chapter Dads.

I look forward to seeing you at the Reunions in Valley of Las Cruces on September 26th and 27th, and in the Valley of Santa Fe on October 3rd, 4th & 5th.

Bring a friend and a candidate and please bring you wife as there is always great ladies program and wonderful fellowship.

Fraternally,

Thomas Payne 33°, S.G.I.G.

Language Learning Centers

It is exciting to report to you the process of establishing several more Dyslexic Learning Centers in New Mexico. There are currently two centers operational, the first being in the Scottish Rite Temple in Las Cruces, and the second in Partnership with Mesa Lodge 68, in Albuquerque.

Thanks to the generosity of Duane an Mary Ann Walker in their gift to the New Mexico Scottish Rite Foundation we are in the process collaborating with several Masonic Lodges for the establishing of Learning Centers in their Buildings. The Scottish Rite Supreme Council has perfected this learning program in the "Rite Care Program" and we using this program by educating our qualified teachers through in the Rite Care Program and then establishing them in our communities in Partnership with Masonic Lodges. Tom Payne recognized the we as Scottish Rite Masons by ourselves, could not provide children this opportunity to correct this deficiency and has elected to collaborate with the Grand Lodge of New Mexico and our Blue Lodges in making this Dyslexic Learning available in local communities across New Mexico.

Here is a complete link to the Rite Care Program and our Learning Centers.
